Instructions
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt until combined.
In another bowl, mix the egg, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare a piping bag or squeeze bottle and fill it with the batter. If you don’t have one, you can create a makeshift piping bag by cutting a small corner off a resealable plastic bag.
Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
Squeeze the batter directly into the air fryer basket in swirling patterns, creating bite-sized spiral shapes. Aim for about 8-10 bites per batch, ensuring they have space to expand.
Cook the funnel cake bites for about 5-6 minutes, flipping them halfway through for even cooking until they are golden brown and cooked through.
Carefully remove the bites from the air fryer and dust them generously with powdered sugar while they are still warm.
Serve immediately with optional chocolate sauce or berry compote for dipping.
