Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Avoid over-mixing.
Gently fold in the chocolate chips, and if using, the chopped pecans to the dough.
Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt on top of each cookie dough ball for an extra flavor burst.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are set but still soft.
Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Serve warm on a colorful plate, and consider stacking them for an inviting display or placing them in a clear jar for a delightful gift.
