4slicesprovolone cheese (or cheese of your choice)
4hoagie rolls
1tablespoonWorcestershire sauce (optional)
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, combine the thinly sliced flank steak with garlic powder, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce (if desired). Mix well to ensure the steak is evenly coated. Cover and let it marinate for 15-20 minutes at room temperature to enhance the flavors.
While the steak is marinating, prepare the onion and bell pepper. Thinly slice both vegetables, ensuring even pieces for consistent cooking.
In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers to the skillet. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes or until they are softened and slightly caramelized, stirring occasionally for even cooking. Once done, remove them from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
Using the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and increase the heat to high. Add the marinated steak to the hot skillet, spreading it out evenly. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently until browned. Make sure to adjust the cooking time based on your desired level of doneness.
Once the steak is cooked, return the sautéed vegetables to the skillet. Stir everything together, allowing the flavors to meld for about an additional minute.
Place the slices of provolone cheese over the steak and vegetable mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid and let it sit for 1-2 minutes or until the cheese melts to perfection.
While the cheese is melting, preheat the oven or a skillet to toast the hoagie rolls. Toast until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside, adding a delightful crunch to your cheesesteak.
Carefully spoon the cheesy steak and vegetable mixture into the warm, toasted hoagie rolls, filling generously for a hearty sandwich.
Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the filled cheesesteaks for a burst of color and flavor. Serve immediately while hot, and enjoy your delicious gourmet Philly cheesesteak!
Notes
Feel free to customize the cheese and add other toppings as desired.
