In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
In another bowl, mix the melted butter with buttermilk. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir with a spatula just until combined; do not overmix.
Gently fold in the crumbled sausage, shredded cheese, black pepper, and garlic powder until evenly distributed.
In an 8x8 baking dish, pour in 1/2 cup of melted butter and spread it evenly across the bottom.
Using a spoon or ice cream scoop, drop portions of dough into the baking dish, allowing them to swim in the butter, but do not crowd them.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and the biscuits are cooked through.
Remove from the oven and let them sit for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve warm in a lovely bread basket lined with a cloth napkin, and sprinkle some extra cheese on top just before serving for a lovely finish.
